The Transgender Blog:

Kathlyn Beatty is Transgender?

By: Liv, Team News Reporter

Who the heck is Kathlyn Beatty? Oh yeah, Daughter, er Son of Warren Beatty. What we might be witnessing is the metaphorical birth of the first transgender child in Hollywood. So says Perez Hilton and several other bloggers who say Kathlyn is now going by the name Stephen....

How to confront people in the bathroom.

By: Liv, Team News Reporter

Somewhat hilarious responses to if someone questions you while using a bathroom and perceive you in the opposite gender from the Transgender Law Center:
Them: “Is this the women’s room?”
You: “No, it’s the parking garage.”

Ingenuous. A few less then powerful tactics here:
Kid: “Is that a boy or a girl?”
You: “I’m just a person trying to use the bathroom.”

Uh no, the correct answer is:
    Who?

Kid: “Why is he in the women’s room?”
You: “I’m just here to use the bathroom.”

or
Look freak, This is where I kill all the little children
Okay, maybe not the best response....

Transgender Jobs

By: Liv, Team News Reporter

Interesting new site on the web. Tjobbank, a transgender job search. The good news is someone put the effort into it, the bad news is there doesn't look like there's alot of content. I love the widgets, and rss feeds but I also have to wonder if by definition trans means transitional, then it's definitely a niche market for a short time in peoples lives. More to the point does it do more damage to self-dichotomize transgender individuals? I'm not sure....

Obama's Transsexuals

By: Liv, Team News Reporter

Helen at Trans Group mentions the first (that I know of) attempt at the transgender community coming together and using their financial and voting power to indicate to the next President (Obama of course) who important it is he listens to our concerns as a community. She calls it an excellent Idea, and I second that. Even if it's only a dollar, do it!
Dear Fellow Transgender Advocate, This year we have an opportunity to elect a President who will be the most transgender-supportive in history. But electing a candidate isn't enough just by itself. Unless we're visibly and vocally involved with campaigns and giving our time, energy, money, and ideas we will miss out on an opportunity to create a relationship with a President who has already said he's willing to stand with us. That is why we are asking you to join with us in supporting Barack Obama. We've set up a specific page to track donations from the transgender community and our allies to Sen. Obama's campaign. You can donate by clicking

Tolietgate: Refused from Bathroom

By: Liv, Team News Reporter

One of my favorite blogs is Sarah's which apparently is breaking open what she calls "Tolietgate". Apparently a British Transgender woman was refused the use of the bathroom. I'll personally admit that the bathroom attendant outside "The Tower" gave me a dirty look on our vacation to London. For some reason that bitch had Transdar or something...
Official stewards who were running the toilets at Trafalgar Square announced that I, and any other transgender or transsexual woman, had to use the disabled toilets and was not allowed to use the regular women's toilets. I pointed out to the stewards that I transitioned and had surgery before they were born; I was more polite than a polite thing.
Personally I had looked into the legalities of using the bathroom in London before I flew but never found any conclusive evidence on the...
